The Magnificent was one of the first bands to emerge from the Nijmegen (the Netherlands) punk scene and were formed in 1983. The music is firmly rooted in streetpunk and oi, but there are pub-rock and first generation-punk band influences from both the USA and the UK as well.

The origins of the band lie in the first generation Nijmegen punk band The Squats, founded at the end of the 1970’s and gained notoriety for their riot anthem “Chaos in Nijmegen”.

Very soon, the Magnificent started gigging and recording, collaborating with well known punk legends like the Angelic Upstarts and The Business

Despite many line up changes over the years, the band managed to create quite a body of work and toured in the UK, Germany and the United States.

By 1994 the band just petered out but never stopped officially. At the end of 2023 the band surfaced again, with the 3 remaining core members and a new bassist and are hitting the stage again!
