Bio

The Giant Low

The Giant Low is a post-punk revival band from Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Their sound is best described as a blend of new wave, dark indie rock and post-punk. Since forming in 2019, they’ve crafted their own unique sound influenced by Interpol, The Killers and Editors.

“The Giant Low sounds like the perfect blend of Interpol and Editors, especially with those crisp guitar tones sounding like they've been written by Daniel Kessler himself.” - Fred Bambridge van It’s All Indie

Since forming in 2019, the four piece band crafted a distinct sound influenced by Joy Division, The Killers and Editors – a mix of gloomy rock, driving rhythms, and haunting melodies.

From Breakout Success to a New Chapter

Their 2020 debut single, ‘Gates of Hell’, hit #1 on the Dutch IndieXL Top 40 and surpassed 10,000 Spotify streams. Follow-up single ‘The Other Me’ also reached #1, earning ‘IndieXL Disc of the Week’.

In 2021, they released their first EP, Wonderful and Dark. They followed up with EP Amazone in 2022 and the vinyl release single We Fall in 2024, further refining their post-punk and new wave influences.

A New Era – Echoes of Transgression

Now, The Giant Low is set to release their fourth EP, Echoes of Transgression. Drawing inspiration from modern post-punk acts like Ist Ist, the EP explores new sonic territory.

The first single, ‘Blindness’ (out March 27, 2025), introduces dreamy synth textures, adding depth while maintaining the driving energy of guitars, pulsing bass, and relentless drums. Blindness hit #1 on Radio IndieXL Free40Chart and IndieChart.

Let’s hit the road

Since the start of 2019, The Giant Low has played Eurosonic (Pinguin radio), record store day, festivals, radio shows and rock scenes around the Netherlands. With Echoes of Transgression on the way, The Giant Low is gearing up for more live shows, bringing their dark, melodic energy to the stage.
