Bio
Max Kaasjager is a young guitarist from Zaltbommel, the Netherlands. Inspired by guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Frank Marino and Eric Clapton, his style is energetic, raw, powerful and... indeniably loud. Max and his 'Max Kaasjager Trio', consisting of Zara Menges on bass and Gerrit Wagemakers on drums, have released their 4-song debute EP, titled Salty Bomb Blues in May of 2025.
In 2016 at the age of 7, Max started music by playing piano. After years of classical piano lessons, Max picked up a guitar in his middle school music class. Being left handed, he played his grandpa's guitar upside down for the first few months, but for his 14th birthday he got an electric guitar, and after a year of self study, he started taking lessons with teacher (and later good friend) Nick van Wyk. Playing with his best friends in a Rockabilly group called The Treblemakers got him a bit of playing experience, but more importantly, a lot of fun. After connecting with his local scene, including Mrs. Stuyvenberg and The Wieners, Max met his new drummer, friend and creative inspiration; Gerrit Wagemakers. Max and Gerrit started recording the Salty Bomb Blues EP way before they ever met Zara; but when Max did, he dediced to make her overdub some of the bass tracks and join his new formed group: Max Kaasjager Trio. In november of 2025, Bram Verbeek was selected as the new drummer for MKT. Lots of hair and 11 guitars later, Max and his Trio provide an energizing and immersive anemoia to the late 60s and early 70s.
