Bio

Loki is het soloproject van de Nederlandse kunstenares Lieke Dijkstra. Voor dit nieuwe vehicle openbaart de donkergestemde songwriter zich in een minimalistische formule, waarbij de elektrische gitaar, Chinese Ghuzeng, gedubde zang en bas haar introspectieve teksten begeleidt. In de voetsporen van Bjork en Melanie De Biasio evolueert Loki in een wereld van clair-obscur en levert liedjes af die zijn vervuld door een ideaal van tijdloosheid. In 2024 komt haar debuut album 'Game of Life' uit in beeld, geluid en performance.

Recognisable for her natural expressive voice Loki touches a parallel world of surrealism and melancholy, blending her intuitive voice with rhythmic baselines and lyrical mantras. Together with multi-instrumentalist Gino Bombrini she will present her new work called ‘game of life’ ; songs about doubt, self knowledge and a creative process perhaps. Her music balances on the border of order/disorder, composition/improvisation; with classical worldly instruments such as the Chinese Ghuzeng harp, Viola da Gamba and vocal harmonies they spin soft, red landscapes out of tangled loops and layers.

Prioritizing feeling over perfectionism. This is the credo that drives the restless creativity of singer and producer Lieke Dijkstra, ‘Loki Project’. Having a restless youth, she decided to leave her hometown at age sixteen to move to the big city. Here she dedicated her time to writing music, poetry and the visual arts. Performing at open mics, cafe’s and festival gigs, her career started off, sharing what she called‘ songs for no-one’. At the outskirts of the city she built her first studio with four fellow band members. She used her visuals to communicate, write and record her first self-released-live-album in 2019, called ‘no-one’. By the time her first album came out she created the alter ego ‘Loki’,referring to the shapeshifter in the north mythology. Still searching for a particular sound, she entered the world of producing in 2020 and spent most of her time in a monastery in the north of France to record her second album ‘Game of Life’. Together with multi instrumentalists/producers Gino Bombrini and Gino Cochise she finalized heralbum. Using guitar strings as basic sound material, dark dubbed vocals and traditional instruments to create a paradox of a haunted edginess in a dream like landscape. Her new work will be released in late 2024.
