Bio
HI, I AM STILL UPDATING MY PROFILE! :)
Fee Aaij (20) is a dutch jazzpianist, composer and history of art student. She writes music that could be defined as Melancholic Punkjazz and is deeply inspired by her archetypes David Bowie, Frederic Chopin and Thelonious Monk. Fee performs her music with band as 'I Am The Joker' and solo as 'Songs of The Joker'.
On stage Fee likes to imagine herself as a troubadour converting people to the power of art. She firmly believes in the quote: "Art is what separates us form the animals". Her dark songs carry a rebellious spirit and show characters that are both strong and fragile at the same time. Fee reinforces this realm by the use of conceptualism and visual aesthetics on and off stage.
Fee was introduced to music by the church organ and in a way the dramatic quality of this instrument has never left her. In her teenage years however the tables turned first towards rock and then towards jazz music. She started studying at the conservatory at the age of 15, thanks to the genius guidance of her first jazz teacher Hans Kwakkernaat. The last couple of years she has been tutored by other legendary Dutch musicians such as Jeroen van Vliet, Angelo Verploegen, Dion Nijland and Michiel Braam among others. Besides her own music Fee also regularly plays and released music with 'Norman Samuels Trio' and 'The Starpeople'.
